That means Greene won't be available until late October or early November. Greene had nine points and 83 penalty minutes in 75 games last season.

Roy registered 10 assists in 31 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets this season before being placed on waivers. The Florida Panthers claimed him but he didn't end up playing for them. Roy is a depth defenseman who will probably spend most of the season in the minors.

Ladd had filed for salary arbitration after earning $1.65 million last season. Ladd scored 17 goals and 38 points in 82 games in 2009-10.

Atlanta acquired Eager from Chicago as part of the Dustin Byfuglien trade. Eager is projected to serve on Atlanta's fourth line.

That's probably good news for Pascal Leclaire, who lost the starting job late in the season, although he did regain it briefly before Ottawa's first round exit. Between freak injuries and on-ice struggles, 2009-10 was a season Leclaire will be eager to forget. The Senators have since hired Rick Wamsley, who has a long history with Leclaire, to serve as the team's new goaltending coach. Ottawa hopes that the addition of Wamsley combined with the fact that this is a contract season for Leclaire, will help him bounce back this season. Look for Leclaire and Brian Elliott to split time pretty evenly until one of them manages to set himself apart.

Colorado still has to sign restricted free agents Chris Stewart and Peter Mueller, but they might end up inking an unrestricted free agent or two just to get above the floor. Colorado has a pretty young team and they were reluctant to make a big splash this off-season for fear that it might come back to haunt them when players like Matt Duchene need to be re-signed. However, they probably won't hesitate to do some bargain bin shopping later this month.

Grebeshkov could earn more than $3.15 million per year for two seasons. Grebeshkov scored seven goals and 21 points in 51 games between Edmonton and Nashville last season. He became an unrestricted free agent when the Predators decided not to send him a qualifying offer.

Danis was interested in re-signing with the Devils, but New Jersey opted to sign goaltender Johan Hedberg instead. Danis had a 2.05 GAA and .923 save percentage in 12 games last season.

Brule has signed a two-year deal with the Oilers. The financial terms of his contract are not yet known, but there was some speculation that he could receive a contract worth more than $2 million per season in arbitration. Brule scored 17 goals and registered 20 assists in 65 games last season.

Fraser will make the league minimum, but the deal is one-way so he'll almost certainly start the season with the Devils. "That’s OK with me because of where he’s at," Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said. "He needs to clear waivers (to be sent down) anyway. He should be on our roster." Fraser had six points and 36 penalty minutes in 61 contests.

Kovalchuk signed a 17-year/$102 contract with the New Jersey Devils, but the Kings were in the race for Kovalchuk until the end. However, since the Devils and Kovalchuk agreed to terms, the NHL has rejected the deal on the grounds that it circumvent the salary cap. The NHLPA has filed a grievance on Kovalchuk's behalf. However, if the NHL's decision stands, it sounds like the Kings could make another run at Kovalchuk.

Stralman and the Blue Jackets reached an agreement mere minutes before Stralman's arbitration hearing was scheduled to begin. Stralman would have probably been awarded more money by an arbitrator, but then the Blue Jackets might've exercised their option to walk away and allow Stralman to become an unrestricted free agent. Stralman would've had a hard time getting a satisfactory contract as an unrestricted free agent this late into the summer. He scored six goals and 34 points in 73 games last season.

"It’s going really good," Getzlaf said. "We kind of gave it the rest it needed. I’ve been going pretty hard in the gym the last couple of days. I’m really excited about coming into camp in good shape." Getzlaf scored 19 goalsa and 69 points in 68 games last season. Barring another injury, Getzlaf is a good bet to score 80-90 points in 2010-11.

The deal was made just one day before Fleischmann's arbitration date. Fleischmann scored a career-high 23 goals and 51 points in 69 games last season. He should put up similar numbers in 2010-11 if he consistently plays on one of the Capitals' two top lines.

Ponikarovsky will earn $3 million in 2010-11, but the deal also comes with a $200,000 signing bonus. This move comes mere hours after Alexander Frolov left the Kings to sign a one-year/$3 million deal with the New York Rangers. The Kings also fell short in their pursuit of Ilya Kovalchuk this summer. Ponikarovsky scored 21 goals and 50 points in 77 games between Toronto and Pittsburgh last season. He's reached the 20-goal milestone in four of his last five seasons.
